Layfield is looking to add experienced Spray Membrane Technicians to our Edmonton Construction team.

Deploying out of our Edmonton location, this full-time, permanent position will require extensive travel to job sites located primarily throughout Western Canada. This will be a multi scope position working in Spray applied membrane, Synthetic sheet membrane, Aqua Dam, as well as other product lines within the Geosynthetics industry.

The key responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Management and Maintenance of plural component proportioning equipment
  • Installation of plural component (polyurea) membrane on site
  • Quality control procedures and Documentation
  • Interface with clients and stakeholders for project onsite
  • Project paperwork including cost and safety documentation
  • Assists with and/or directs the deployment of sheet good materials
  • Operates plastic fusion welding equipment used in the installation process, such as wedge welders, leisters, tensiometers, etc. and other of basic hand tools
  • Helps identify recommendations for process/equipment improvements
  • Driving to and from site throughout Western Canada following commercial driver compliance as necessary
  • Assist with Installation of AquaDams
  • Assists with and/or directs the installation, welding and/or sewing of geomembranes/liners & environmental containment systems

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Spray applied membrane installation experience at least 5 years
  • Mechanical aptitude to repair and troubleshoot equipment onsite
  • Be able and willing to travel to job sites and be away for extended periods of time up to 24 days
  • Be adaptable to changing schedules
  • Enjoy working outdoors
  • Be a safety focused individual
  • Possesses good analytical skills and uses sound judgment to resolve issues
  • Have a valid Driver’s License
  • Be organized with attention to detail and work site/ area cleanliness
  • Have the following valid safety tickets would be considered an asset: WHMIS, H2S, Confined Space, Working at heights, Arial Lift Platform.
  • Be able to successfully pass pre-employment / pre-access test as a requirement for site specific access
