The opportunity

TC Energy is seeking a Pipeline Technician to be part of the Rocky Mountain Region Pipeline Team reporting out of our Stettler regional office. Reporting to the Rocky Region Pipeline Manager, the Pipeline Technician will apply their pipeline skills and aptitude to install, operate and perform planned maintenance and corrective repairs on natural gas pipeline systems. This position operates and maintains assigned assets in a manner to meet operational needs in compliance with company and regulatory requirements. The Pipeline Technician will be expected to maintain core operational task qualifications and will be required to perform tasks from other disciplines when business needs require. The hours of work may need to be extended as business needs arise, and the position is subject to Call Out in emergency situations. The successful applicant may be more than 50% of their time away from their home base. Finally, the successful candidate will also be required to travel to other company locations for project support, temporary assignments, meetings or training. This position is overtime eligible.

The regular work schedule for this position will be:
Week 1 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours / day Friday is an 8 hour / day

Week 2 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours / day Friday is a Regular Day Off (RDO)

  • Flying in small planes and helicopters is a requirement.
  • This position is only eligible for domestic relocation assistance.
What you’ll do

Ensure facilities and personnel comply with TC Energy's Community, Safety and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures as well as accepted risk standards
Assist with inspections related to valve servicing, troubleshooting and repair (equipment such as actuators, valves, stem seals and other related components)
Assist with all aspects of pipeline isolations and gas handling duties including: blowing down/purge and pressure pipelines, installation and operation of air movers/expellers
Assist with various tasks associated with inline inspection programs
Perform basic One Call line locates
Assist with all types of Line Crossings (foreign or seismic) of TC Energy Pipe Assets
Complete basic 'as built' prints and update related documentation with respect to One Call and pipeline related schematics
Identify encroachment issues
Assist with notifications to Landowners
Read and interpret alignment sheets
Lead/manage the safe and efficient completion of low complexity projects (including the coordination and monitoring of contractor work activities or third-party active control)
Assist with general pipeline Right of Way (ROW) maintenance activities (erosion or sink hole repairs, line patrol, install identification signs and posts)
Perform gas leak surveys

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma/GED is required
Highly motivated with good interpersonal skills to effectively work in a team environment that includes shared responsibilities in support of team and company objectives while acting independently in the execution of specific duties
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
A willingness to work in all areas required by the team
Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills
Proven planning and organization skills
Working knowledge of computers and related software.

Preferred Qualifications

Technical diploma or apprenticeship training
Pipeline/facility construction/maintenance experience in the Oil and Gas Industry
SAP experience

  • This position requires candidates to:
have and maintain a valid Driver's License
provide a Driver's Abstract for review
successfully complete a pre-employment medical screen including drug and alcohol testing.
