The HR Manager will be responsible for overseeing the HR Department's functions and the care of 80+ employees. The areas of support will include employee relations, corporate policy, performance management, training and development, health and safety, recruitment, recognition, payroll, WSIB and benefit administration. This role provides support and guidance to our offices in Orillia, Barrie, Markham and Vaughan and will require you to visit these locations. A thorough understanding of Human Resources practices and employment legislation is necessary.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide guidance and counsel to managers and team leads on topics such as employee relations, employment compliance, performance management, conflict resolution
  • Engage with the employees in their work spaces in effort to build employee moral, walk/ talk the floor
  • Act as a resource and liaison to the HR generalist and HR co-ordinator
  • Oversee the current Health & Safety Committee
  • Expand on current internal corporate policies and develop new literature to ensure legislative compliance
  • Administer performance review programs to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within the organization
  • Payroll
  • Manage the administration of all group benefit programs
  • Identify and contract with outside vendors to provide employee services, search firms, etc.
  • Conducts HR investigations (i.e. policy violations, employee relations matters) and makes recommendations for action and approval within legislative frameworks
  • Develop and Review employment offer letters for all new hires
  • Advise and prepare all employee separation notices and related documentation. Coach Managers on how to conduct termination meetings and attend all terminations.
  • Participate, develop and execute special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Tracks metrics and employee headcount, leaves of absence and return to work programs.

Qualifications and Skills

EXPERIENCE WITH CANADA LABOUR CODE IS A MUST

  • Post-secondary education in a related field and a minimum of 5 years prior experience in Human Resources

The applicant will have a minimum 3 years of experience managing the HR department in a Federally regulated business, within Canada, governed by the Canada Labour Code. Please do not apply without this experience.

The applicant should have experience in the transportation sector, namely busing or trucking.

  • CHRP designation is an asset
  • Thorough knowledge of industry terminology and concepts; employment law, compensation, organizational planning, recruitment, organization development, employee relations, safety, employee engagement, and employee development
  • Responsible for the input of bi-weekly payroll, requirements, processes, administration and systems an asset.
  • Administration of benefits and compensation programs and other Human Resources recognition and engagement programs and processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and other computer-based programs
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to engage with all levels of the organization
  • Own transportation to travel to all Angel Tours locations like Orillia, Barrie, Vaughan, Markham when required
