ERM is seeking a Health & Safety Specialist in Montreal, Canada. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring health and safety compliance with applicable regulations and existing client standards and contributing to an environment where employee health and safety is preserved. You will have the responsibility, authority, and knowledge necessary to develop and implement site-specific Health & Safety plans at a variety of complex project sites. The ideal candidate will bring working knowledge of H&S technical capability and deep understanding of business processes to help our clients proactively address their health and safety risks and challenges. This is a full-time field based contract position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the role out of the EHS risk assessment program including use of corporate risk assessment tools and perform risk assessments according to risk assessment plan
  • Perform ergonomic risk assessments as required and roll out of solutions
  • Support development and implementation of solutions to mitigate EHS risks to an acceptable level
  • Support area GEMBA and self-inspection program
  • Help role out management monitoring (self-audit) to ensure/verify controls to manage EHS risks are operating effectively
  • Support EHS teams day to day activities to allow nominated EHS team to develop and implement EHS integration plans
  • Coach operations staff, site leadership and site EHS staff in EHS technical areas to promote ongoing engagement and long term project/program success

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, occupational health, engineering, or related degree. Masters preferred.
  • 3 to 7 years relevant consulting experience in working with significant industrial clients on regulatory compliance and sustainable H&S compliance programs.
  • Strong experience in creating Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), risk assessments, and assessment methodologies.
  • Ability to read, write and speak French required
  • IH equipment experience, chemical exposure sampling experience, knowledge of SAP, 3E database experience a plus
  • Certification in field; ASP/CSP, CIH, PE, or similar registration highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide detailed regulatory interpretation of federal and provincial safety regulations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-hire background check and drug screen.
