As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Required Qualifications: Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.

Additional Required Qualifications: Grade 12 or equivalent required. Unit Clerk Certificate from recognized educational facility required. Knowledge of Medical Terminology required. Accurate and proficient computer keyboarding and database skills required. Current BCLS-HCP card required. English language proficiency required.

Preferred Qualifications: Computer expertise with Window NT, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Word an asset. Experience working as a unit clerk in a hospital setting preferred. Ability to perform patient related Unit Clerk duties preferred. Ability to establish and maintain relationships built on mutual respect, appropriate sensitivity, transparency, empathy, and compassion with patients, families, colleagues, professional and medical staff. Ability to work cooperatively and productively with others.
