James Electric Motor Services Ltd, a division of Wolseley Canada Inc, is a sales and service center for Pumps, Motors, Fans and Blowers. Based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, the company has been servicing customers since 1974. It started as a small motor rewind shop with four employees and have grown since. At James Electric our huge inventory and expert staff will be able to offer you the ability to redesign and rebuild motors, pumps, fans and blowers to your exact specifications. Our extensive inventory consists of replacement bearings, seals, shafts, impellers, gaskets, fans, controls, motors, and other replacement parts for immediate service.

Purchasing Agent / Buyer

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Purchasing Agent / Buyer will be responsible for ensuring the timely and effective flow of inventory into James Electric, in alignment with company and departmental objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understanding all lines assigned to purchase; building the best relationship with the vendors, and ensuring all daily commitments to the supply chains are met including, but not limited to, inventory replenishment and branch requests
  • Working with Inventory Control, reviewing items for replenishment from vendors and expediting vendor Purchase Orders
  • Reviewing purchase requests from sales and service personnel and submitting purchase order to supplier
  • Forecasting future demand using analytical tools
  • Following up with supplier in regards to outstanding purchases orders including backorders and updating expected dates in system
  • Working with Sales and Service Departments in regards to incoming return authorizations
  • Working with the Warehouse Department in regards to outgoing return authorizations
  • Consistently displaying a customer service attitude toward the internal branch customer and demonstrating the ability to identify areas for improvement and suggest solutions to meet the customer/branch expectations
  • Representing the company in a professional manner at all times, ensuring quality customer service
  • Abiding by all policies, rules, and regulations of the company including all applicable safety rules, regulations and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of two (2) years related experience in purchasing/buying
  • CSCMP (Certified Supply Chain Management Professional) Certification is an asset
  • Understanding of transportation requirements such as courier and LTL
  • Understanding of cross border documentation
  • Working knowledge of Windward System 5 is an asset
  • Distribution/Supply chain experience is an asset
  • Proficiency using a variety of Microsoft Office applications including: Excel and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of purchasing, warehouse and inventory control policies, processes and procedures
  • The ability to adapt to change and self-awareness
