Here’s what you will be doing
Reporting to the President, the Director, People & Culture will drive a people-focused and high-performance culture that emphasizes employee collaboration and engagement. This role will have the opportunity to drive our growth by aligning our culture and strategy.

You understand what it takes to be a strategic HR Professional. You work well with senior leadership teams to develop and implement a People Plan that supports Squirrel’s strategic priorities anchored by our core values. However, you are not a hands off executive. You are not afraid to dig into the tactics with your team. Your attention to detail and organizational skills are outstanding. The organization runs so much smoother with you both leading and acting as part of the team.

You will implement and oversee all aspects of Human Resource functions to 175 team members across North America (Canada and the US). We are seeking someone who will be a fantastic ambassador of the company’s brand and culture, both internally and externally.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Act as a trusted influencer and advisor on people and workplace culture initiatives
  • Design and communicate a philosophy and strategic point of view for development & training, talent planning and cultural fitness
  • Foster and champion a culture of performance and development across the organization
  • Involvement in all aspects of Human Resources including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training and development, policies & procedures, benefits
  • Provide recommendations and training on leadership and organizational behaviours
  • Contribute to development of leadership through focused development strategies including talent and performance management
  • Provide guidance for change management initiatives
  • Provide required training for all Squirrel Systems staff variety of topics including policy and procedure ; health and safety; Leadership; process and change management
  • Partnering with all team members in promoting a strong culture, positive employee experience, and a great place to work
  • Direct and oversee operations of People and Culture team ensuring alignment with company goals and OKR’s
  • Anticipate and identify emerging issues, trends and problems that affect the policies and programs of Squirrel Systems
  • Identify and address issues that affect the overall health of the organization; morale, effectiveness, turnover, absenteeism and productivity.
  • Lead / Support diversity initiatives
  • Maintenance of payroll and employee benefit programs
  • Ensure compliance regarding regulations and laws by executing necessary policies and procedures.

What you bring

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in progressive Human Resource roles
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) certification is an asset
  • Highly developed skills in coaching, facilitation, conflict resolution, and relationship management
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong sense of confidentiality, professionalism, tact, and diplomacy
  • Adaptable, with the ability to be both hands-on and strategic
