JUNIOR BUSINESS INSIGHTS ANALYST, MINING TIRE GROUP

Reporting to the Manager, the Junior Business Insights Analyst, Mining Tire Group is responsible for assisting with the build-out and evolution of our Reporting and Analytics solution. The role has the core purpose of helping develop a tangible and valued BI resource that is recognized by MTG and our customers.

This position will work closely with MTG Operations, the Business Intelligence and TOMS BSA teams as well as external clients to model, visualize and present core business metrics which increase the operational efficiency and profitability of our clients’ mining sites. In addition, the Junior Business Insights Analyst will work closely with clients to build and support self-service analytics capabilities against our platforms.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Requirements Gathering and Analysis

Gather, document and validate business requirements from internal and external clients
Participate in prioritization and promotion of client requests out of our development backlog
Develop and support key metrics and KPIs for tracking the performance of our MTG analytics offering
Reporting and Analytics

Capture and publish of meta data in support of self-service data discovery and analysis
Build prototype data models, metrics and visualizations
Augmentation and evolution of existing metrics, models and visualizations
Ensure processes, access and general knowledge is available to our clients to enable self-service data analytics
Business Support

Coordinate and participate in implementation of changes, enhancements and upgrades
Coordinate external project delivery with internal project dependencies and timelines
Coordinate and participate in all types of testing and quality assurance activities
Provide technical support including incident response, troubleshooting, root cause analysis and resolution for both internal and external clients
Understand, monitor and escalate data quality issues

WORK EXPERIENCE

Previous business-related or project experience preferable
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Fluent in English
Strong attention to detail
Solid knowledge of statistical measures and how to draw meaning from observations
Exposure to advance reporting and data analytics
Ability to build interactive visualizations, dashboards and interactive reports
Awareness of dimensional data modeling concepts and techniques
Ability to clearly tell a story with modern BI tools
Good written documentation and verbal communication skills
Comfortable to provide redirecting feedback to clients, management and peers on proposed solution designs, requirements or proposals
Ability to manage own time effectively and work under general direction of the Director, Business Insights
Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously and have strong organizational skills
Sound problem solving skills with a desire to learn and seek results
Ability to build relationships and work well across functions

EDUCATION

Post-secondary graduate with a degree, diploma or certificate in computer science or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Occasional international travel
Occasional evening and weekend work required
NEGOTIABLE REQUIREMENTS

Experience building and working with Multidimensional and Tabular cubes and related concepts
Knowledge of Azure Data Platform including Data Lake, Data Warehouse, Analysis Services and PowerBI
Practical knowledge of SQL and DAX languages. R and Python skills
Experience as a Data Analyst supporting advance reporting and analytics solutions
Experience with relational databases such as SQL Server and Oracle in an enterprise environment
Understanding of iterative, agile development methods such as Scrum and associated tools
Database administration exposure or participation
Ability to speak Spanish
