SASKATOON OR REGINA, SK

WSP is currently seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist to join our Saskatchewan Environment Team. Located at our Saskatoon or Regina office locations. Reporting to the Regional Manager, Environment this position will be responsible for developing, leading, and mentoring a team of more junior Scientists and Technicians in vegetation and soils ecology, supervising rare plant and vegetation surveys and conducting these surveys when required, completing and overseeing technical writing and environmental effects assessments as well as project management for a wide variety of environmental scopes. The ideal candidate will have a thorough knowledge of Saskatchewan ecosystems, project and people management, and be looking for an exciting opportunity to help lead the growth our team in Saskatchewan.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Leading biophysical baseline field studies appropriate with their level of experience;
Data interpretation and analysis;
Technical report writing including technical proposals, oil and gas proposals, and environmental impact statements;
Regulatory submissions and engagement;
Responsible for managing all phases of projects from development of proposals, scopes, work plans and budgets through to overseeing teams and deliverables;
Advises and liaises with clients on a broad range of technical issues related to environmental works at hand;
Provide technical direction and positive mentoring to junior staff;
Provide technical review at a level consistent with the candidate’s level of experience;
Contributes to the development of internal protocols and procedures;
Implement corporate and client safety programs; and
Other duties as assigned/required.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Ecology, Botany, Soil Sciences, Wetland Sciences, Forestry or related discipline;
Experience: A minimum of 7 years of progressive consulting experience;
A demonstrated working knowledge and ability to interpret relevant Canadian and Saskatchewan Environmental Acts, Regulations, guidelines and standards;
Eligible for membership with an applicable professional association;
Demonstrated strong technical writing skills;
Experience administering project or project phases budgets and junior team resources;
Excellent internal and internal client services skills;
Excellent communication skills;
Experience working in the environmental consulting arena at a crew and team lead level;
Valid drivers license required;
A willingness to travel; and
The desire to succeed in a dynamic and progressive global organization.
