Join the Business Services Team in the Corporate Services where you will support the daily operations of CMHC’s Housing Knowledge Centre, Canada’s largest housing research library. Your skills and passion for managing, acquiring, cataloguing, and organizing all types of information resources within the Housing Knowledge Centre as well as assisting and guiding clients in finding or using information in a digital and/or print format will ensure the smooth operations of our library.
This is a temporary position of a duration of 12 months.
Responsibilities:
- Manages all electronic subscriptions to databases and e-journals, which includes purchasing, ordering, and online access management. Verifies invoices and statements issued to the Housing Knowledge Centre and maintains accurate records of financial transactions.
- Manages the circulation operations, including implementing and enforcing circulation policies, responding to client requests for items and overseeing the checking in and out of materials.
- Responsible for cataloguing electronic and print resources, ensuring materials are properly catalogued and added to the integrated library system.
- Supports business lines with the Housing Knowledge Centre's services and resources.
- Acquires online and print resources, selecting the most cost-effective and efficient method and emphasizing online resources when available. Creates and modifies order records, and receives, claims, invoices, and executes all financial procedures related to ordering and paying for items.
- Responsible for operations related to the closed-stacks historical collection of print material, including shelving, and pulling items for clients to consult and borrow.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a diploma or degree in library and information technologies
- Minimum of one year of prior relevant experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of library methodologies and tools.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the technologies used to manage and catalogue the Housing Knowledge Centre materials.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication and organizational skills.
- Strong reference, cataloguing and research skills.
- Bilingualism (French and English).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Solid understanding of CMHC and its organization structure.
- Experience working in a Library or similar organization.
