Why is this role important?

Role Mandate:
Reporting to the Planning and Analytics Manager, the analyst will help develop algorithms and analytical reporting tools to support the Home & Entertainment Merchandising team. This role provides long-term and day to day analytical support to support the business strategy through developing capabilities and empowering business leaders through data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities:
Decision Support/Analytics

Assist the team with the development and implementation of analytical tools and capabilities to support business objectives
Assist in the development of ML/AI algorithms in Python/SQL to automate pricing and promo planning through synthesizing large datasets, integration outcomes from various models, and embedding business requirements
Contribute towards understanding database structures and utilizing the ETL process to extract actionable insights for business leaders
Ability to implement best data management practices
Ability to train and socialize analytical tools with the broader business to effectively implement and integrate analytical capabilities in decision making
Ability to navigate through Teradata and TopShelf to understand POS level inputs (data) impacting category performance
Collaborate with counterparts across the organization to better understand consumer data across the entire variety of business channels

Annual/Quarterly Planning Analysis

Work with the business leadership team to provide analytical insights
Conduct analysis required for aligning and measuring key metrics in support of objectives through utilizing financial and retail domain knowledge
Other duties may be assigned as required

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field.
2+ years of Python and SQL experience is required
Strong Excel (Power Query and Power Pivot) fundamentals are required
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to story-tell with data
A self-starter with the ability to think critically and have strong independent problem-solving skills. (can we rephrase to say Superior analytical, problem solving and judgment skills)
Detail oriented and strong time management skills.
Core understanding of statistical methods and analyses
Previous experience in retail operations and/or merchandising is an asset
