The primary purpose of the Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) PEDS/NICU position is to support the professional development and ongoing continuing education of PEDS and NICU nursing staff at the QEII Regional Hospital and Area 9 in the North Zone. This role requires specialized expertise in order to provide resources, consultation, and ensure clinical competencies, and organization standards/practices are maintained within specified areas of practice. A broad perspective is required for complex problem solving as well as collaborative work with other departments. The expectations of this role are to work independently balanced with the ability to work collaboratively in teams for project work. Seeking information on best practice, determining implementation methods using innovative solutions, identifying and overcoming barriers, and the development of procedures to reflect best practice are expectations of the position. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Baccalaureate in Nursing or actively enrolled in obtaining. 3-5 years recent nursing experience and/or clinical nurse educator experience in clinical service area. Demonstrated teaching and leadership skills, including coaching and conflict management skills. Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and presentation). Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite and web-based applications. Creative, motivated, enthusiastic, effective role model. Ability to use principles of time management and effective problem solving. Ability to network and develop working relationships with local and provincial Educators to share information, best practices, and suggestions to overcome barriers. Ability to flex work schedule when required.
CNA certification in specified clinical service area an asset. Courses in adult education from an accredited college or university. Specialty level certification an asset (e.g. PALS, NRP, ACORN, etc.). Project planning and implementation experience. Knowledge of organizational processes and multidisciplinary collaborative service delivery methods. Knowledge of principles of quality improvement.
