Reporting to the President but taking functional guidance and direction from the General Manager the Accounting Controller Team Lead (ACTL) will play a critical role in developing and implementing the corporate financial strategy. The ACTL will be responsible to ensure the smooth, efficient and accurate operation of all of the financial departments on a day to day basis as well as the on going annual seamless management of the entire financial / accounting department and it's people.

Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Prepare reports which summarize and forecast business activity, financial position and cash flow needs
  • Prepare clear, concise monthly financial analysis/statements on key items of P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow to help the organization better understand financial performance and variance between actual, forecast and budget
  • Responsible for preparation of year end reporting and working with accounting firm of record to produce year-end financial statements
  • Plan, assign, critique and review staff’s work and provide leadership to them while also encouraging their professional development at all times
  • Plan, prepare and deliver direct report performance targets and yearly reviews
  • Manage and review contracts with all major customers and constantly seek and recommend improvements in supplier efficiencies
  • Responsible for GST/QST/HST remittances on quarterly basis
  • Establishes relations with banks and other financial institutions
  • Participate in the improvement of existing accounting processes and internal controls
  • Responsible for running payroll with ADP and keeping track of any necessary adjustments that need to take place each pay
  • Responsible for keeping all accounting records in order and ensuring completeness and correctness of all supplier, customer, inventory and electronic files
  • Reconciliation of all affiliated companies and subsidiaries bank records

Required Qualifications:

  • CPA designation
  • 8+ years with proven senior accounting experience
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and principles
  • Awareness of business trends and industry changes
  • Experience with creating financial statements
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • User proficiency in Sage Intaact Accounting Software
  • Previous petroleum accounting experience would be an asset
  • High level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Sound planning, prioritization, and execution skills
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Confident and engaging and professional presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the proven ability to directly manage a diverse group

Compensation will be $85,000 to $94,500 per year plus benefits based on experience.
