As the Senior User Experience Designer for our commercial business, you will bring a human-first, design thinking perspective and approach to complex problems and you will ensure that the solutions we are creating and building will service our customer and business needs now and for the future. You will be part of the Design Community of Practice and will benefit from having access to a broader design organization which runs design-focused community building and education and training programming.
Is this role right for you?
Influence the design aesthetic of experiences that touch 20M+ users every day.
Take the time to understand our users, leveraging rigorous design research and usability principles as well as your intuitive design sense.
Meticulously consider user interactions and journeys and act as an advocate for the constant improvement of both.
Produce compelling designs to illustrate concepts iteratively and be able to provide detailed specifications for use by UI developers of all levels.
Act as a design owner through conception, build and release of features large and small.
Synthesize research outcomes into viable product experiences.
Apply a high level of technical acuity with a thorough understanding of front-end technologies; you will need to understand limitations and constraints, as well as when to push boundaries.
Plot and map a user journey from product discovery through enrollment, down multiple engagement routes and through to journey completion.
Creatively work within tight timeframes and within specific constraints.
Travel to Latin American countries may occasionally be required; the position is primarily based out of Scarborough with some travel to our Digital Factory downtown.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed?
You have at least 7 years of experience designing complex UI with a deep understanding of systems design, service design anduser experience design.
You have at least 7 years of experience designing responsive web or mobile software applications, with an emphasis on the ability to communicate using rapid visual design techniques.
You are a collaborative leader who leverages diversity across disciplines, locations and levels to fuel creativity and innovation in product design.
You have a thorough understanding of how design, prototyping, and user research meet complex and varied requirements within tight development windows.
You have a portfolio of work (professional and personal) which showcases the applications you’ve worked on and includes examples of your story-telling skills, from low-fidelity sketches through to detailed designs.
You’re a master in Sketch, along with proficiency in at least one other type of prototyping software
You have a positive and resilient personality and can embrace feedback with a desire for continuous iteration and improvement.
You can work within a brand and style toolkit with a desire to push existing standards to the next level
You are open, persuasive, engaging and love to have a good laugh – you also know when it’s important to get serious and be a champion for the end user
Masters or Bachelor Degree in Human Factors/Human-Computer Interaction/Design or related field
You are bilingual in Spanish & English
