The Corporate Banking Analyst Position within Banking, Capital Markets and Advisory group (“BCMA”) at Citi is an entry-level position responsible for supporting Senior Bankers on financing-related transaction execution, relationship management and periodic credit reviews for major Canadian institutional clients. The overall objective of the Corporate Banking team is to help clients leverage the Citi Platform while efficiently deploying the firm's capital and evaluation and management of risk.

The role allows an opportunity to gain exposure to clients belonging to diversified industry groups and a large array of client solutions (Cash management, Hedging, Lending, Capital Market Origination and more).

Different from a traditional corporate banking role, this role involves supporting Senior Corporate Banking Officers to cover clients in multiple industry clusters – such as aviation, telecommunication, metals & mining, industrial – and help them with various capital-markets-based or bank-led-financing solutions. Assisting the team with capital structure advisory efforts, involving a full spectrum of traditional debt products and innovative structured debt offerings, is an integral part of the job requirement. Frequent monitoring of credit profile and preparing marketing materials for other risk management solutions are other important aspect of the day-to-day responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
Conduct extensive analysis to evaluate client’s credit profile, including accounting, financial and business analysis, industry and economic research as well as financial modelling
Support Senior Corporate Banking Officers in executing transactions by liaising with various internal and external counterparties
Prepare recommendation memos for transaction approval and periodic credit reviews
Support Senior Corporate Banking Officers with relationship management, including monitoring client’s ongoing performance and update relationship managers with notable developments, while developing an understanding around client’s needs and business opportunities
Organize and analyze data in preparation of client pitches in collaboration with partners across Citi
Contribute to strategic planning initiatives
Participate in internal projects and assignments as necessary
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:
Excellent research and analytical skills, including a solid understanding of financial statements and accounting concepts, as well as basic financial modelling skills
1-3 years of previous work experience in Corporate Banking, Investment Banking or Private Equity is desired
Concentrated coursework in Accounting, Finance, Economics and/or closely related areas
Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
Understanding of Corporate Banking Business
Demonstrated planning and organizational skills and work effectively in a team environment
Bilingual proficiency is preferred but not required

Education:
Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience
