Job Summary

The role of Job Coach/Facilitator requires competency in a variety of areas including engaging and guiding youth with barriers in their job search, facilitating groups, marketing and promotions and a general understanding of youth and employers’ needs. The position requires the ability to develop strong rapport, assess needs and plan and implement strategies to assist in securing employment.

The Job Coach/Facilitator is engaging with youth in a classroom setting, delivering life skills/employability skills workshops, assessing the needs of and developing relationships with employers and youth. This role also assists youth with job search, job maintenance and job networking.


Education and Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a related social science field and/or training or certification in employment or career counselling and/or equivalent years’ experience in employment or career counselling
  • Certified Career Development Practitioner (CCDP) certification is considered an asset

Skills and Abilities

  • Competency in facilitating job search strategies in workshops for youth
  • Skilled in connecting to youth and building a trusting, professional relationship
  • Skilled in Windows, file management and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Excellent written documentation and verbal communication skills

  • Outgoing and able to actively engage and network with youth and business owners
  • Demonstrated competence in facilitation skills
  • Highly ethical, objective and professional when guiding youth

Primary Duties

Job Coaching

  • Provide coaching to participants in areas such as job search, employer expectations, life skills and job maintenance
  • Build relationships and market the program in the community to develop potential work placements and youth referrals
  • Support employers in understanding the strengths, challenges and behaviours of participants in placements
  • Assist in problem solving and conflict resolution strategies for the employer and participant as needed
  • Follow up with employer and participant at end of placement to promote continued employment success
  • Support employers to complete all documentation required of the program
  • Assist with the intake selection process, administration, program reporting and the provision of participant supports


  • Facilitate engaging life skill and employment focussed workshops
  • Assist Program Coordinator in adapting curriculum to intake needs
  • Assess workshop participant behavior and participation to determine appropriate work placements and on the job supports needed
