As a Senior Content Writer, you will lead the content design of digital experiences that touch millions of Scotiabank customers every day. Your knowledge and expertise on cross-functional teams will ensure content and design create great user experiences.
Is this role right for you?
You will plan, write, edit, and measure content for a variety of digital channels or products, ensuring the tone and writing style express and elevate the brand voice
Partner with designers, researchers, product owners, and engineers to define content requirements and deliver compelling content and commerce experiences
You will participate in design reviews and collaborate with visual designers on content strategy, concepts, narrative, and storytelling
You have the ability to translate SEO keyword research into clear and compelling content that positively impacts search
You will contribute to the development of the overall digital banking roadmap, taking into consideration the Scotiabank strategic plan
Plan ahead for upcoming deliverables; identify key stakeholders/considerations early and deliver high quality results
You effectively and consistently leverage principles of prioritization (customer, business, technical) to make strategic decisions
Understand our users and synthesize research outcomes into viable content and communication experiences
You will craft messages that proactively address peer and stakeholder concerns and questions, considering the goals and motivations of intended audience
You will drive the creation of user-centric content leveraging strategic insights, design thinking, and industry trends and research
Analyze and interpret data effectively to inform decision making processes and build a solid understanding of customer pain points, needs, and expectations
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed?
Bachelor’s degree or higher in design, journalism, or communication
8 to 10+ years of experience writing or editing content for the web and mobile experiences, as a UX writer, web editor, copywriter, content strategist, or similar
Expert communications skills with exceptional writing abilities — a sharp writer, detail-oriented, creative, and a superb editor
Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, comfortable communicating directly with senior executives
Proven project management and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects at once
Has a demonstrable portfolio of work (professional and personal) that showcases the digital applications you’ve worked on and includes examples of your storytelling skills
Possesses a positive and resilient personality that embraces feedback and a desire for continuous iteration and improvement
Comfortable working in a self-guided manner with tight timeframes and mentoring junior writers as required
Experience working on scrum teams and collaborating with designers, developers, product owners, researchers, and digital accessibility specialists
Experience planning for and developing technical, UI, editorial, or keyword-targeted content
Can show a history of applying design thinking tenets and user-centered design principles to challenges at work or in everyday life
Ability to work within content guidelines with a desire to push existing standards to the next level
A fast learner who has an appetite to understand what’s behind both simple and complex financial solutions
