The Data & Analytics (DI&A) team at Loblaw is hiring a Data Analyst , with specific focus on matching and identity resolution – what we call “ Identity Management ” . Reporting to the Director – Identity Management , the Data Analyst will be responsible for work across our entire data landscape. DI&A is a true “hub” – the convergence of technology, products, data, governance and operations from across the Loblaw group .
Our DI&A Data Analysts will be true “Data Ninjas” – delving into and manipulating data to help our Identity Management team create new algorithms, processes and entire systems to coalesce and organize our data. A big part of the role is to create re-useable automated scripts, applets and processes to enable rapid, repeatable manipulation, staging and measurement of diverse data.
There is also a very significant role of com munication and interaction in this role – this is not a “behind the scenes” job! The Data Analyst will be a real part of an ongoing “quiet revolution” to challenge traditional assumptions, modernize our approaches and radically move our data assets forward, and this will involve working closely and proactively with other teams in DI&A as well as other groups across the Company.
The DI&A Data Analyst is part Ninja, part developer, part scientist , all at the same time.
What you’ll do:
Perform rapid quantitative and qualitative analysis of data from various sources and in varying formats , and create meaningful reports
Create bespoke parsing routines to standardize/cleanse data
Load and refactor data into formats optimized for specific use-cases
Run data through systems to test Identity Management efficacy
Create repeatable ETL processes using languages such as Python
Test data against taxonomies and data dictionaries
Set up and maintain databases (SQL, NOSQL etc ) for IDM analysis
Provide expert advice and feedback on DQ issues and other data features uncovered in data
Be a Data Ninja!
What you’ll bring :
Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree a plus
Understanding of and some experience in working within data regulatory frameworks
Working knowledge of data quality, data governance and master data management practices and principles
Familiarity with SQL and NOSQL data systems & query languages (e.g. SQL)
Experience with Agile methodology (e.g. SCRUM, Kanban), artifacts and tools (e.g. Rally, JIRA etc )
Familiarity & experience with IDEs such as Visual Studio Code
Excellent communication (verbal, written, listening) and engagement skills
Able to distil and communicate the key messages from large amounts of data and to create visual s and other aids to clearly communicate the significant features of the data in ways that allow any audience to comprehend
Experience with oral presentation
Ability to manage and reconcile multiple stakeholder groups and competing priorities.
Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Familiarity with data matching / identity resolution systems a plus
Loblaw- specific data knowledge is a plus
