Credit Manager, Montreal

JOB SUMMARY:

The Credit Manager is responsible for the entire credit granting process, including the consistent application of a credit policy, periodic credit reviews of existing customers, and the assessment of the creditworthiness of potential customers, with the goal of optimizing the mix of company sales and minimizing bad debt losses.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Manages the entire credit granting process through the consistent application of the Company’s credit policy

· Administers periodic credit reviews of existing customers and assesses the creditworthiness of potential customers

· Responsible for achieving an optimized mix of company sales and bad debt losses

· Operates within the guidelines and requirements of the company credit policy and maintains an appropriate credit risk level for the business

· Provides recommendations for appropriate changes to the Company’s credit policy

· Manages the collection process of delinquent accounts to maintain credible receivables; including establishing relationships with collection agencies and collection attorneys

· Manages receivable measurement to budget requirements as well as cash application function

· Resolves disputes with Customers and other departments as they relate to receivables and risk management

· Analyzes specific credit applications for terms of sale and credit limits

· Visit customers as needed to establish strong business relationships and limit credit risk

· Prepares monthly accurate cash flow forecasts and analysis and other management reports

· Effectively work with the sales force to improve credit quality and cash flow

· Works closely with CFO/Director of Credit on credit/collection updates for the region

· Maintain appropriate documents, documentation and other information in the customer credit files

· Keeps abreast of all law pertaining to collection, bankruptcy, bonds, liens and judgments

· Participates in appropriate trade and credit groups to improve credit knowledge

· Follows company policies and procedures

· Able to denounce construction projects in Quebec

· Assumes other projects and responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

· Accredited CCP designation, post-secondary diploma and 5 years’ experience

· Effective listening, verbal and written communication skills, bilingual in English and French

· Practices good judgment and decision-making ability

· Demonstrates accuracy in work, attention to detail, integrity and ethical standards

· Able to handle difficult customers with diplomacy and tact

· Manages time effectively and adapts quickly to changing priorities

· Team player who works productively with wide range of people

· Superior organizational skills

· Comfortable in fast-paced environment

· Able to read, analyze and interpret financial statements

· Working knowledge of basic and advanced accounting principles
