This position provides service to all TransAlta employees. This role provides HR and administrative support in regular and consistent HR practices within the employee life cycle, such as recruitment (job postings, screening, offer letters, onboarding), compensation planning, annual performance management process. This role provides analytical support to HRBP’s and HR Managers. In addition, this role answers employee and manager questions with regard to pension and benefits, annual processes, payroll, policies and procedures etc. This role also contributes to improvement projects while driving innovation.
Accountable to deliver 0-3 month deliverables as agreed with the Manager, Shared Services Connect
Accountable to manage the transactional inquires and duties with HR for all business units. The HR Coordinator interfaces directly with employees, supervisor, and leaders, utilizing SME knowledge of HR processes and systems to educate clients and remove barriers
Accountable to provide tactical support to HRBP’s and HR Managers on projects and assignments This includes all annual core processes related to the employee lifecycle (goal setting, performance reviews, compensation planning, succession planning)
Accountable to answer general employee or leader questions regarding HR model, annual processes, systems, pension and benefits, position reports, timelines etc
Accountable to provide leaders with recruitment and onboarding support within the defined process to ensure an exceptional new hire experience including: posting positions, screening resumes, participating in interview process and arranging pre-hire checks, writing offer letters and initiating the onboarding process
Accountable to collect data and report defined KPIs (recruitment, turnover, exit interview findings, goal development, performance management, compensation, vacation tracking) as per defined schedules or as requested by the Manager, Shared Services Connect
Accountable to coordinate training, presentations and complete system preparation activities for annual and ongoing processes within Dart (for performance alignment, talent reviews, compensation planning). This includes providing administrative support in the creation of presentations, visuals and spreadsheets. Facilitate training as appropriate.
Accountable for training coordination and logistics
Accountable for managing HR content and access on the Portal and SharePoint, including HR Records
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Labour Relations or related business degree
Current Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) designation or working towards
Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in human resource management with broad based generalist experience or HR new grad who participated in a coop program
Knowledge of employment law and employment standard and exposure to HR practices
Demonstrates capability to understand the business and create the link between HR strategy and business strategy
Demonstrates the ability to identify potential and existing problems and create effective solutions to address them following appropriate analysis.
Ability to interpret and apply HR common practices into TransAlta standards and policies
Ability to efficiently use SAP, Dart and Microsoft Office Suite
Demonstrated ability to professionally interact with people and maintain confidentiality.
Demonstrated service-oriented approach with ability to listen and provide assistance in a timely manner
