Michael’s on Simcoe, one of Toronto’s finest dining establishments is about to expand into the Scotia Bank Arena neighborhood with the Butcher Chefconcept. An ultra-fine dining, boutique Steakhouse providing a refined and unparalleled dining experience.

We are presently looking for Top in Their Fieldindividuals to fill a number of positions in both restaurants to support this expansion.

Position

We are presently looking for a service manager to help guide our team through their development. The candidate will have an outstanding work ethic, driven by results and a positive attitude that is infectious. Your history of providing excellent, above expectation service and leadership will be the qualities that will encourage the present team to follow your lead. Your ability to convey company policies, give clear and concise direction and provide explicit feedback will aid you in building a professional and positive work environment. Encouraging the staff to work with you and not for you is an essential perspective for the candidate to possess.

Job Description

Directing and aiding servers through an elevated and elegant service

Interacting closely with guests in all areas of the restaurant to ensure that the highest levels of hospitality are being offered

Liaison between guests, kitchen, hostess, management and ownership

Assisting with the daily operation, cleaning and maintenance of the restaurant

Training staff on policy and procedure

Introducing new ideas and perspectives to assist in the evolution of the collective’s development

Staff scheduling

Gratuity management and distribution

Wine cellar maintenance

Closing of the restaurant ensuring all side duties have been completed and the restaurant is left in secure standing

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years management experience in a modern dining establishment with emphasis on Fine Dining and/or Steakhouse concepts

WSET Level 2 or equivalent practical employment

Strong communication skills and the ability to provide constructive feedback and concise direction to the staff

Able to work long shifts on your feet

Available to work on all seven days of the week

Practical working knowledge of the following:

Open Table

Microsoft Word & Excel

Silverware POS

Food / Labour Cost Control

Inventory Control

Budgeting

Scheduling

Compensation includes competitive salary with gratuity, benefits and meal plan. Compensation is based on qualifications. References required
