Summary of Position
Cadre’s Transit division offers our clients technical rail service solutions including commissioning and testing of new transit vehicles, warranty repairs, preventative maintenance, and inspection services. Our Electrical Technicians work with the leading Ontario transit suppliers and agencies, ensuring their equipment is available to provide reliable on time service to their passengers in some of North America’s largest transit systems.
Reporting to the Cadre Team Lead, the Electrical Technician will be responsible for supporting the product introduction and commissioning of Low Floor Light Rail Vehicles (LFLRVs) and BiLevel Passenger Cars being delivered to regional transit agencies operating in the GTA. Our technicians will be responsible for the onsite electrical and mechanical installations, testing and repairs on the vehicles ensuring they are delivered to the customer on time and fully functional.
Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Responsible for both commissioning and testing electrical and mechanical system, sub-systems and components installed in the LFLRVs and BiLevels
Perform electrical and mechanical modifications from drawing, prints or wiring schematics on LFLRVs and BiLevels
Repair and install LFLRV and BiLevel parts such as switches, relays, wires, harnesses, panels, air valves, bearing, couplings, etc.
Document and report issues or changes in the work instructions to supervisor and engineering department
Complete functional testing on all completed modifications
Completed Post-Secondary education in the field of Electrical Engineering from an accredited technical school or equivalent experience
Skilled in troubleshooting techniques and a complete understanding of electrical testing equipment
Hands on experience working with AC and DC power and control systems
Capable of reading and understanding electrical drawings and maintenance manuals
Experience with HVAC systems, metal fabrication or machining would be considered a strong asset
Strong communication skills and capable working with computers
