Golder has a new opportunity for a Senior Socio-Economist to join our Environmental Planning & Permitting team on a full-time basis based in Vancouver. Our team of social scientists and engagement specialists works in Canada and internationally on environmental impact assessments; policy and program development; social management planning, sustainability initiatives, engagement, social due diligence, and third-party monitoring.
An overview of your role will include:
Lead economic baseline and impact assessments as a component of socio-economic assessments and environmental impact assessments for projects
Lead other technical aspects of socio-economic and land and marine use baseline and impact assessments
Support third party due diligence and compliance reviews
Manage junior and intermediate staff in secondary research and primary data collection and field work, including data collection with Indigenous groups and public stakeholders
Lead the development of socio-economic management plans for projects, to meet regulatory and corporate requirements and best practice, with a focus on economic components
Business development including marketing of Golder’s socio-economic assessment, Indigenous, and public engagement services
You will have a background in:
A degree in economics preferred, or degree in social sciences with a strong economics background and expertise
Expertise in input-output modeling, cost benefit analysis, economic valuation methodologies, and economic development planning
Experience leading technical teams
Experience leading collection and analysis of primary economic and social data (such as surveys, interviews, focus groups, and community meetings)
Familiar working within provincial and federal impact assessment regulatory frameworks
Minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience
Experience working on large projects involving multi-disciplinary teams
Experience working with Indigenous groups and public stakeholders
Strong team player – ability to work with all levels of an organization
Strong commitment to health and safety
Ability to travel
Valid class 5 driver’s license
