Job Description:

The JDE Application Administrator is responsible for the lifecycle, support and performance of the Oracle JDE environment. The Administrator has primary responsibility to support the JD Edwards application stack and fulfills the responsibilities typically found in JDE CNC (Configurable Network Computing) roles. The role provides tier 3 support for the components that comprise the JD Edwards applications and integrated systems, and tier 2 support for application support, middleware, and database.

The JDE Application Administrator provides expertise in the installation, configuration, maintenance, patching, and administration of the JDE and Oracle environments and applications. The Application Middleware Specialist works with IT and business colleagues to plan, design, implement, deliver, document and maintain the components of multitier enterprise systems. The position will be central to the timely resolution of support issues because of the foundational nature of middleware in modern enterprise systems.


Software lifecycle management including E1 Service Packs, Tools Releases, ESUs and ASUs
Building and deploying package builds
Management of pre-production and production systems
Proactive system performance management
Pre-production database refreshes
System auditing and performance tuning
Development of tools to automate repetitive administration tasks
Configuring data sources and printer queues
Maintain data interfaces
Collaborate with functional and technical colleagues to troubleshoot system problems


Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot n-tier applications
Proactive security management for middleware and application components
Perform troubleshooting and incident resolution for assigned systems, working with both technical and end-user colleagues as required
Problem definition and management for technical issues
Coordinate with BC Transit’s software suppliers to contribute to timely incident and problem resolution
Resolve system functionality issues, collaborating with IT colleagues and in accordance with IT change management procedures
Install, configure, administer and tune middleware components
Perform basic database administration work including backups, restores and database account management
Monitor and report system usage and performance
Provide leadership in technical testing of system upgrades and patches
Document incident and problem resolution for middleware issues
Participate in risk and problem priority management
Maintain and enhance performance of the systems focusing on middleware components
Gather and document technical requirements
Produce and maintain documentation for system administration, configuration and maintenance


Collaborate with and provide backup support to the Database and Application Administrator
Educate IT colleagues on the administration and maintenance of JD Edwards systems
Stay current on applicable best practices and emerging technologies
The position will be required to work non-standard hours to implement changes and provide support
The position may be required to participate in rotating on-call support for critical system support

Job Requirements:

JDE and Oracle

3 years’ experience with JD Edwards core technology foundation in JDE 9.2

2-3 years’ experience with Oracle Fusion middleware including Oracle WebLogic and Oracle Web Tier

2-3 years’ experience with Oracle database administration including Oracle RMAN

Basic knowledge of administering JD Edwards version 8.0

Experience in handling day to day core JDE CNC activities, such as:

JDE OMW rules and promotions,

Package builds,

ESU installs

JDE User Defined Objects (UDOs),

Object Configuration Management (OCM) changes,

JDE data and code refreshes,

JDE job scheduling,

JDE Environment setup and configuration,

JDE Enterprise Server and Web Server setup,

JDE Workflow administration,

JDE Security workbench,

JDE Task/Menu promotions,

JDE OneView Reporting

Other Technical Skills

Understanding of Java, Oracle ADF and general web technologies

Experience with Oracle Enterprise Linux and Windows administration

Basic knowledge of Oracle PL/SQL

Experience integrating Hubble reporting tools

Experience with 3 rd party applications such as DSI

Proficiency in MS Office Suite including Visio

Soft Skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with a diverse technical and business team

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with business colleagues


Degree or diploma in Software Engineering or another IT related discipline from a recognized university or college; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Oracle database or middleware training would be an asset
ITIL training would be an asset


The position requires the competition of a Criminal Record Check Or Vulnerable Sector Search

Testing and assessments may be included as part of the recruitment process
