The Centre for Newcomers is an Alberta leader in providing settlement, language training and employment readiness services to immigrants. Our mission is to achieve the integration of newcomers in the community, through services and initiatives that promote diversity, participation and citizenship. Reporting to the Director, Community Outreach and Programs, and working within the larger Community Relations team, the Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for Community Engagement within the Peer Mentorship Program, and for all fundraising initiatives and activities of the organization.
1. Peer Mentorship Program
Connect and engage with targeted communities of interest through outreach to community organizations, faith groups, agencies and institutions;
Conduct different activities with community groups as specified in funding proposals;
Attend and participate in meetings as required;
Assist in conducting communities of interests’ needs assessments;
Conduct regular surveys of members to identify communities of interest;
Enter information into database and maintain records;
Document and report on activities with communities of interest;
Other tasks as required.
2. Fundraising Activities
Responsible for the development and implementation of the annual fundraising plan;
Responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships with new and existing donors and supporters;
Creating and implementing new campaigns and other methods of fundraising;
Keeping up-to-date on fundraising best practices and enact changes to improve CFN’s fundraising capacity.
Post-secondary education in Human Services or related field
2+ years of progressive fund development experience
Demonstrated ability to develop strong and effective collaborative relationships at all organizational levels
Superior written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrates a sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals; capable of working in challenging, fast paced environment
Experience working with diverse populations using culturally competent models is required.
Working conditions -
Full time - Monday to Friday
Some weekend and evenings are required
