The Nursing Resource Team (NRT) operates within the Quality & Performance (Q&P) Portfolio, under the strategic leadership of the Director of Clinical Resource. Clinical Managers provide day-to-day leadership and direction for the team and supporting staff. Clinical Education and Development Clinicians support the educational and developmental needs of the team. The Nursing Resource Team is a staffing team that plays a vital role in the provision of nursing services across patient care programs at Hamilton Health Sciences. It is comprised of full-time and part-time nurses and health care aides whose shifts are assigned to various clinical areas to meet appropriate staffing requirements. Resource team nurses and health care aides will respond to needs based on patient acuity, replacement for sick time, vacation, and known vacancies. The NRT is composed of clusters or groups of clinical units including medical/surgical, pediatrics, women's health, perioperative, and critical care. Nurses are aligned to a cluster or multiple clusters, specific sites, and/or programs based on their interest, expertise and learning needs.
As a member of the Nursing Resource Team, provides clinical support, as a member of the healthcare team, in patient care areas. Functions according to the job description for Healthcare Aides.

1. Personal Support Worker or Healthcare Aide Certificate or nursing student with successful completion of all level 2 courses at McMaster University or nursing student with successful completion of all level 2 courses in the McMaster-Mohawk-Conestoga collaborative nursing program
2. Computer familiarity or willingness to learn computer skills as required
3. Demonstrated effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, teamwork skills
4. Demonstrated initiative and judgement appropriate for the position
5. Ability to accept assigned or delegated functions
6. Ability to set priorities and organize work accordingly
7. Ability to deal with various hospital departments effectively and collaboratively
8. Ability to lift using appropriate lifting techniques and bend, push and pull using good body mechanics
