Job Purpose:

The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of recruiting including interviewing, reference checks and on-boarding. The Human Resources Coordinator will ensure all HR related policies and procedures are current with federal and provincial legislation and will act as liaison with the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB). Professional and ethical confidentiality must be maintained at all times.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Place job openings on company website, local newspapers, on line magazines and recruiting websites
  • Source job fairs at universities, colleges and employment agencies; attend events to promote Marineland as an employer
  • Screen and interview all prospective employees
  • Design and facilitate on boarding presentation, schedule orientation sessions
  • Review and revise seasonal and full time employee documentation: employment agreement, Team Member Handbook, Uniform Order form, Medical Information form etc.
  • Maintain HR database system for employees and First Aid accidents/incidents
  • Review and update the Health and Safety manual to meet legislative requirements
  • Review and update organizational chart and job descriptions as needed
  • Annually, review Certifications/Licenses for re (training) needs and coordinate training dates with employees and facilitators
  • Review Dive Team medical requirements and arrange doctor’s appointments
  • Participate on Joint Health and Safety Committee: schedule meetings and work place inspections
  • Assist employees with concerns regarding violence and harassment, ensuring fair and consistent application of policies
  • Act as liaison with WSIB and employees
  • All other duties assigned by the Marineland management team


  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related required
  • 2 years of Human Resources Coordinator experience required
  • Full understanding of HR functions and best practices
  • Strong organizational, and time management skills
  • Highly computer literate, working with Microsoft Office and related Human Resources and communication tools
  • Excellent communication, both verbal and written, organizational and conflict management skills
  • Knowledge of a second language an asset
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety policies and procedure and WHMIS
  • Ability to work in a fast paced office environment with continuous interruptions; exposure to stress in terms of meeting hiring targets for park opening and maintaining staffing levels, employee issues
  • Available to support a 7 day a week operation
