The University anticipates a need for sessional faculty to teach in the Summer 2020 semester in the following areas:

Criminology and Criminal Justice

Posting #2020.025a: Located in beautiful Abbotsford, the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice has approximately 500 program students and offers a B.A. degree in Criminal Justice, an Honour’s program, and a Master of Arts (Criminal Justice) degree (ufv.ca/criminology).

The School of Criminology and Criminal Justice invites applications for a sessional instructor to teach CRIM 710 Change Management in the Criminal Justice System in the Master of Arts (Criminal Justice) program. The successful candidate should hold at minimum a Master’s degree, preferably in criminology or criminal justice, or an equivalent degree. Practical experience working in the field of criminal justice will be considered an asset. The successful candidate must be familiar with core principles of change management and the role of leadership as it pertains to implementing change in the Canadian criminal justice system. The successful candidate should demonstrate broad knowledge of a variety of criminal justice agencies, including policing, corrections, and community-based agencies and be able to speak knowledgeably to the need for change within the Canadian criminal justice system. Previous university-level teaching experience is an asset. The successful candidate should demonstrate excellence in teaching and be able to mentor students from a diverse range of backgrounds, including a wide variety of criminal justice agencies.

Economics

Posting 2020.025b: The Economics Department is accepting applications for sessional instructors to teach courses in principles of microeconomics, principles of macroeconomics and intermediate managerial economics. Candidates are required to have a Master’s Degree in economics, PhD preferred. Evidence of successful post-secondary teaching experience is preferred.

Psychology

Posting 2020.025c: The Psychology department requires sessional faculty for Summer 2020 and ongoing in a variety of areas, particularly Introduction to Psychology (I &II), Clinical Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Health Psychology and Learning Theory (Behaviorism). Candidates must have a PhD in Psychology or be ABD. Teaching experience at the university level is preferred. Applications should consist of a cover letter, a current curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy/interests, and evidence of teaching effectiveness or potential. Three reference letters will be requested at the interview stage. Experience using Blackboard is an asset.

School of Health Studies

Posting 2020.025d: Bachelor of Science in Nursing program: The BSN program requires part-time/sessional faculty for clinical instruction in gerontological nursing, medical-surgical, home health, psychiatry, public health, and maternity. Successful candidates will hold a Baccalaureate degree in nursing with Masters preferred, and a strong related clinical practice foundation.
Posting 2020.025e Practical Nursing Program: The PN program requires part-time/sessional faculty for clinical instruction in gerontological, medical and surgical practice settings. Successful candidates will hold a Baccalaureate degree in nursing and a strong related clinical practice foundation. Candidates with a diploma in nursing with extensive related clinical practice experience will be considered.
Posting 2020.025f Health Care Assistant program: The HCA program requires part-time/sessional faculty for instruction in gerontological practice settings. Successful candidates will hold a Baccalaureate degree in nursing and a strong related clinical practice foundation. Candidates with a diploma in nursing with extensive related clinical practice experience will be considered.

School of Land Use and Environmental Change

Posting #2020.025g: The School of Land Use and Environmental Changeis seeking qualified applicants to teach the following courses in the Summer 2020 semester: GEOG 105, Natural Hazards and Hollywood, and GEOG 253, Introduction to Geographic Information Systems. These courses are contingent on successful enrolment. Applicants must possess at minimum an M.Sc. or equivalent; PhD preferred. Applicants should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and statement of teaching philosophy along with the names and contact information for three professional references. Upon interview, please be prepared to show evidence of effective high-quality teaching.

Anthropology

Posting 2020.025h: The department requires Anthropology sessional faculty for Fall 2020 and ongoing in a variety of areas at the lower and upper level. Candidates must have a Masters degree in Anthropology (or a related discipline) and preferably have a PhD in Anthropology (or a related discipline) or be ABD. Teaching experience at the university level is required. Posting 2020.025i: The department requires Media and Communications sessional faculty for Summer and Fall 2020 and ongoing in a variety of areas at the lower and upper level. Candidates must have a Masters degree in Media and Communications (or a related discipline) and preferably have a PhD in a relevant discipline or be ABD. Teaching experience at the university level is required. Applications should consist of a cover letter, a current curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching philosophy/interests, and evidence of teaching effectiveness or potential in courses that are offered in Media and Communications at UFV.
