The Creative Planning Director will:
Plays a critical role in the brand management group, providing the knowledge, leadership and passion required to champion and build our world-class brands and leading marketing team. More than just a talented professional, this incumbent is inquisitive, creative and a student of food, health or beauty, retail and brands.

A harvester of customer insights and the key strategic bridge to help spawn a creative idea that connects the customer. The incumbent holds a rich imagination and a tireless need to ask “why?”, an ability to think both creatively and logically, and bottom line expertise in communicating ideas in simple terms with persuasive conviction.

Role responsibilities include:
Works collaboratively with marketing VPs and Marketing Strategy & PMO lead to develop annual plans, briefs and documentation that inspire creatively-led, data-driven campaigns
Work with internal Centres of Excellence (CoE’s) to lead the gathering of data inputs that drive strategic plans (business performance metrics, competitive analysis, brand research, consumer-focused research)
Query complex data sets to derive business insights and communicate key opportunities for, and barriers to growth
Helps ensure business challenges and opportunities are always addressed through the eyes of customer (customer-first approach)
Working with peers and agency partners, help facilitate the development of human, cultural and category insights. Ensure insights and inspiring creative ideas are at the centre of all marketing work
Researches and documents complex consumer decision and purchase journeys
Working with Marketing VPs, Brand Managers and creative leads, helps ensure Loblaw Companies brands appear clearly and consistently across paid, owned and earned touchpoints

Representing the voice of the customer in all business contexts

Partner/converge with Customer COE as needed to uncover insights
Partner/converge with Data & Insights team to uncover insights
Aids customer-framed connection plans and media targeting strategies

Brand Stewardship

Aids in creation/articulation of brand essence and all supporting tools/documents
Facilitates the translation of insight into brand strategy and brand strategy into brief
Along with Marketing Strategy and PMO led, embeds discipline around brand guardrails among team members
Clarifies role of brand in business context; defending as necessary among stakeholder audiences

Business Strategy

Contributes to business strategy and interprets it in a marketing context
Aids in transformation of business goals into marketing strategic plans
Aids in entrenching measurable attribution models into marketing initiatives

Desired Skills & Experience

Be cultural aficionado who brings inspiration to the team from trends in advertising, TV/film, music, fashion, sports, etc
Have a university degree in business, marketing or an equivalent field of study related to the job
Have strong leadership and communication skills; the ability to communicate simply and persuasively
A collaborative team player who puts ego aside and recognizes and advocates for game-changing ideas regardless of where they come from
A great facilitator across multiple marketing specialties (Brand, Creative, Media, Data & Insights, etc.)
Exceptional interpersonal skills, and the ability to motivate the team
Not necessarily a subject matter expert, but holds a working knowledge of digital media ad platforms, including Facebook/Instagram, Google Marketing Platform, Adobe Marketing Cloud, etc.
Strong knowledge and working experience with industry tools and resources (Vividata, Comscore, Kantar, Nielsen, WARC, Mintel, consumer segmentations, brand equity trackers, etc.)
Inquisitive nature, with an ability to effectively source information, develop plans, obtain approvals and build relationships
Creative problem solver with a strong work ethic and ability to work independently as well as effectively with a team
Strong creative judgment
