| The successful candidate will work within a multi disciplinary team that is focused on executing Canadian Naturals growth strategy for SAGD operations in the McMurray formation. Candidates must have a B.Sc in Geology with ten years of experience working at an upstream oil and gas production company. Post graduate studies and direct involvement in McMurray SAGD operations would be an asset. Reporting to the Manager, New Venture, the Project Geologist will be responsible for the following: Perform detailed geological mapping of thermal oil sands assets leading to optimal development projects; Communicate key geological concepts to team members and senior management; Provide technical review and leadership in land strategy discussions; Provide input for areas of future technical development within the department; Take a lead role in the planning and drilling of horizontal well pairs, in order to maximize SAGD performance; Participate in the planning of a long term growth strategy for the McMurray formation; Provide input on regulatory documents; Mentoring junior professional staff in both their technical and professional business development.
