| Research Scientist - Nuclear Physics (ISAC) Located on the South Campus of the University of British Columbia, TRIUMF is Canada's national laboratory for particle and nuclear physics. We are currently seeking a Research Scientist who will join our ISAC (Isotope Separator and ACcelerator) nuclear physics group. ISAC is the world's most intense ISOL (Isotope Separation OnLine) facility for the production of rare isotope beams. TRIUMF is embarking on an ambitious new program using actinide targets with both photo-fission and spallation drivers. The beams from the high intensity drivers are coupled to state-of-the-art experimental facilities such as for example ion trap mass and decay spectrometry systems and set-ups for indirect and direct nuclear astrophysics reaction studies. This provides a superb experimental environment to conduct nuclear studies for nuclear astrophysics, nuclear structure, and fundamental symmetries research with radioactive ion beams. The successful candidate will be expected to assume a leadership role in the TRIUMF nuclear studies program and be able to develop and exploit the science opportunities from a large suite of experimental facilities available at IS.... |
