The referral may be generated from a variety of sources including government agencies, employers, third party and private payers. Community Occupational Therapists work with individuals throughout the life cycle whose lives have been affected by physical illness or injury, congenital or developmental delays, mental illness, the ageing process and/or psychosocial problems. The focus of assessment and intervention is on day-to-day activities in the areas of self-care/personal care, productivity and leisure. The emphasis of intervention is to assist the individuals to develop skills, restore function and independence, maintain ability, and promote health and safety. Occupational Therapists in the community may provide: Adult Services to clients with medical/ health conditions requiring in-home services including psychogeriatrics, mental health and physical conditions. Paediatric In-Home Services to a range of children.... |
