| Mechanical Design Engineer Located on the South Campus of the University of British Columbia, TRIUMF is Canada's national laboratory for particle and nuclear physics and one of the world's leading subatomic physics laboratories. A new facility is under development to study fundamental science using ultra-cold neutrons. In support of this initiative, we have an immediate opening for a Mechanical Design Engineer who will have responsibility for coordinating and contributing to the design of various subsystems, and overseeing their manufacture. The design of these subsystems involves precision mechanics, high vacuum, stress and thermal analysis, cryo-engineering, and materials compatibility. The successful applicant will join a project team consisting of physicists, engineers, and technical specialists, who work closely together to identify and solve design and manufacturing issues. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: mechanical design of the subsystems based on simulations where appropriate; coordinating the design efforts and identifying and resolving interface issues; documenting designs and specifications; specifying construction by machine shops and overseei.... |
