3 Year Term Position
Reporting to the Director of Financial Operations, the Manager of Payables has full
accounting authority and is responsible for ensuring payment for goods and services
provided to the Government of Nunavut. Through supervision of 7 staff, the Manager
of Payables ensures expenditures are appropriately authorized and verified. In addition,
the financial controls exercised must stand up to both public and audit scrutiny and
contribute to the credibility of the Government by ensuring public funds are used for
the purpose for which they were intended.
The successful candidate should have a university degree in Commerce/Business
Administration with completion of a majority of the requirements towards obtaining a
professional accounting designation, with five years of experience in a financial
environment. Proven supervisory experience is required. Strong writing skills are
essential and the ability to communicate in Inuktitut/ Inuinnaqtun would be an asset.
Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is
an asset.
