| LifeLabs is currently recruiting for a Laboratory Technical Assistant, Microsupport (LTA). This position is casual and there are no guarenteed hours (0-37.5 hours per week). Responsibiliites: The LTA is primarily responsible for handling and processing all microbiology specimens accurately and efficiently including accessioning, sorting, scanning to batches, processing and preparing specimens for technical analysis. In addition, the LTA provides input to the Team Supervisor concerning team issues and opportunities for improvement. High School graduation combined with post-secondary science courses, Microbiology courses and/or medical terminology. Basic computer knowledge and typing skills. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal Good problem solving skills with attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to be flexible, accommodating morning, afternoon, evening and weekend shifts, and take a positive attitude towards change. Good organizational skills and ability to work under pressure (high volume specimens). Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
