| Under supervision within established protocols, the Laboratory Assistant carries out a variety of basic procedures/duties including specimen procurement and processing, clerical support and other related duties. Performs, prepares, reports, and distributes limited laboratory tests such as blood glucose meter, occult blood, urine pregnancy test and urinalysis (macroscopic and microscopic) according to departmental policies and procedures. Reports laboratory specimen processing/reporting errors and completes appropriate documentation. Assists supervisor in maintaining adequate inventory of materials and supplies.
