| LEGAL ASSISTANT (PROPERTY - RAPID TRANSIT) Full-time (for approximately 3 years) LOCATION: 150 Frederick St., Kitchener In conjunction with the Rapid Transit Project, provides clerical and secretarial support to Legal Services, specifically in the area of real estate and related transactions and services, title searching, and expropriations. Obtains and assembles title information crucial to completion of Regional property transactions. Prepares and electronically registers legal documents, such as deeds of land, easements, encroachment agreements, as well as all supplementary agreements and documentation through the Teraview land registry system. Conducts subsearches, through Teraview or the land registry office, as appropriate, to determine ownership and/or encumbrances on title. Maintains carriage of real estate files together with the Solicitor (Property-Rapid Transit). Drafts documents, such as deeds, easements, notices, land transfer tax affidavits, and correspondence to lawyers and consultants for completion of real estate transactions and expropriation proceedings. Composes correspondence for the Solicitor, including those requiring detailed legal descriptions, requisitions.... |
