| The Laboratory Patient Technician (LPT) is primarily responsible for ensuring the safe, accurate and efficient collection of patient specimens from the initial greeting of the patient, data entry, phlebotomy, ECGs, to the final preparation of specimens for transportation. The LPT is also responsible for performing related tasks to keep the Patient Service Centre in operational order. In addition, the LPT provides input to the Supervisor concerning team issues and opportunities for improvement and ensures that LifeLabs Core Values of C ustomer Focus, A ccountability, R espect and E xcellence are demonstrated in all activities. Detailed Description: Greet patients upon arrival at the lab, review requisitions for accuracy, request information as required from patients, determine if patients have followed necessary test preparation protocol prior to specimen collection, and provide instruction to patients regarding the specimen collection process. Perform phlebotomies and perform ECG tracings, and may arrange for expedited cardiologist interpretation of possible abnormal ECG tracings Perform special test collection i.e. medical/legal drug screens, paternity test, clinical trials and co.... |
