| Title Kitchen Manager/Cook Position Overview Summary of Function The Kitchen Manager is responsible for ensuring the delivery of a daily meal program which serves nutritious home cooked meals for Meal Program participants at the Downtown Community Centre. Functions will include meal planning, meal preparations and cooking, serving, storage, food purchasing, maintaining and monitoring inventory, equipment care, and sanitation/cleanup all while following health department regulations. The Kitchen Manager will ensure the financial viability of the program by; using cost control methods to ensure that meals are prepared within a set budget, manage the inventory within defined parameters and, in consultation with supervisor, explore opportunities for additional cooking that could increase revenues for the program. The Kitchen Manager will also provide guidance within defined parameters for the part time cook and the volunteers that are active in the program. They will also work collaboratively with other programs operating at the community centre as well as similar programs operating at other City of Kitchener facilities.
