Reporting to the Housekeeping Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for ensuring all
areas and departments of the Qikiqtani General Hospital are cleaned and maintained in
accordance with regulations, policies and departmental procedures, so that the Hospital is
free from contaminants and is well presented to the general public, clients and staff. As a
front line staff for infection control, the housekeeping assistant ensures that the principles
of infection control and cross contamination are strictly adhered to. The key areas of
concern include: Operating Room, 4 Birthing Rooms, Nursery and the Ward areas. These
positions will be scheduled as rotating shifts.
The ideal candidate must have a minimum of grade 9 education. You must be able to
understand and implement W.H.M.I.S. (Workplace Hazardous Material Information
Systems) and able to interpret and implement Hospital /Department policies and
procedures. The ability to organize, prioritize and work as a team player would be strong
