| Posting Title Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice Department Mechanical Position Profile Heavy Duty Mechanics inspect, service, and maintain diesel locomotives in accordance with federal and company regulations. Responsibilities: Diagnosing diesel engine malfunctions and making indicated repairs Operating machinery in a safe and effective manner Providing daily locomotive maintenance that includes changing oil or repairing, replacing, cleaning and adjusting parts Assembling and starting engines Diagnosing locomotive component malfunctions Preparing inspection, maintenance, and work reports Qualifications: Diesel mechanic experience and/or Diesel Mechanic diploma Ability to frequently lift weights up to 50 pounds & occasionally lift weights up to 100 pounds Ability to do physical work, sometimes outdoors in extreme weather conditions Basic technical knowledge of diesel - welding skills Using measuring devices and understanding visual displays Valid Driver's Licence Work is performed in a heavy industrial shop and outdoors as required with regular exposure to dust, pollen, fumes, noise and vibrations Completed high school diploma Candidates should expect to work weekends and shifts, espec.... |
