| Health Records Technician - Release of Information Specialist Posting #: 820 Location: Charlton Campus Position Details # of openings: 1 Time of Day: Reg/Temp/Casual: Temporary Shift Length: Full/Part Time: Full Time Department: HEALTH RECORDS Union: CUPE Open Date: 02/02/12 Hours of Work: Monday-Friday (Days) Closing Date: 09/02/12 Description TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT - up to 24 months POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for processing and releasing patient personal health information in compliance with the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), the Public Hospital Act (PHA), the Mental Health Act (MHA) and other relevant provinical and federal legislation. This position is responsible for representing the hospital in judicial proceedings when the record is required as evidence. This position is also responsible for making access requests to other facilities for patient personal health information as requested. The Health Records Technician - Release of Information Specialist verifies that all authorizations for releasing information are handled according to legislation and established guidelines.
