Under the direction of the Manager, Health Information, the Health Record Clerk works as
part of a team to provide reliable record management services to a variety of health care
professionals in the Baffin Region. In accordance with department policies and procedures,
the Health Record Clerk is responsible for accurate processing, checking, indexing, filing,
storage, and prompt retrieval of all patient care documentation to support effective
communication and quality care. The efficiency of the incumbent’s service also impacts on
technical co-workers’ abilities to meet external and internal reporting deadlines.
They will be organized with the ability to make decisions regarding work priorities. The
incumbent is required to work independently, on weekends and holidays, without presence of
immediate supervision. As part of a team, the incumbent will have excellent interpersonal
skills and be able to work under pressure. Computer skills, with experience using database
