| Title: GIS Technician - Cowichan Valley Regional District Organization: Cowichan Valley Regional District GIS TECHNICIAN (REGULAR, FULL TIME) INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DIVISION CORPORATE SERVICES DEPARTMENT Position: The Information Technology Division in the Corporate Services Department is seeking a GIS Technician for a regular, full time position. Reporting to the Manager, Information Technology Division and supervised by the GIS Supervisor, the GIS Technician is responsible for performing a variety of technical assignments involving the maintenance of the CVRD’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Work involves editing map data, creating location maps, preparing materials for public presentation, plotting survey plans, and maintaining civic addresses. Qualifications: Secondary school graduation plus graduation from a recognized institute with courses relating to GIS and a minimum of two years practical application involving the plotting of survey plans and revising of cadastral base maps preferably in a municipal and/or regional government setting is required; hands-on experience with ArcInfo, ArcView, and some AutoCad is preferred.
