| Location: Owen Sound, Grey County, Ontario We are looking for two farm interns for the full 2012 growing season (March-November). We are looking for applicants with a genuine interest in organic and sustainable farming, who one day will hopefully start their own farm business. We will provide training in: seedling start up, field preparation, orchard care, greenhouse growing, how to transplant and care for the vegetable garden, pastured livestock including beef cattle, Berkshire and Tamworth pigs, laying hens and meat poultry. We have an on-farm kitchen and we will be preserving the harvest as well as making meat products. We believe organic foods should be for everybody not merely the wealthy and we strive to make sure there are enough young farmers starting their own organic farms. We have a large library of reference books and videos. After the 1st week, we will pay a stipend of $100.00 weekly and a bonus if you stay the whole season. Accomodation is a seperate guest house with its own bathroom and laundry facilities, may share room with other interns and or wwoofers, meals are shared mostly with the family and other interns and volunteers, but the guest house has its own kitche.... |
