| FAMILY SUPPORT WORKER Temporary Full-time, (for approximately 15 months) LOCATION: 99 Regina St. S., Waterloo/150 Main St. , Cambridge Assists clients to obtain custody and support of children in their care through negotiation and the court process. Enforces and defends existing support arrangements and reviews existing support amounts annually for adequacy. Interviews clients. Acts as agent on behalf of the Region and on behalf of children under 18 and children in temporary care. Investigates anyone who has a legal obligation to make support payments. Assesses respondents' ability to pay support to clients. Waives support in cases where pursuit is inappropriate. Advises how the client is to proceed and follows through. Explains court and application process to clients. Completes court applications and motions or negotiates private agreements. Completes sworn affidavits. Approves negotiated support amounts in consultation with lawyers. Refers clients to Legal Aid and other social support services. Prepares cases for Settlement Conferences or trial. Mediates with couples and lawyers to establish private agreement and/or court orders in an attempt to se.... |
