| ENVIRONMENTAL OFFICER I (WATER SERVICES) Full-Time (2 Positions) LOCATION: Regional Lab,100 Maple Grove Rd, Cambridge Plans, schedules, and conducts routine inspections, including waste surveys, of companies within the Region which discharge wastewater to the sanitary or storm sewer systems. Reviews all established industrial monitoring programs and develops integrated annual sampling schedules. Assesses compliance with the Region?s Sewer Use By-law. Evaluates corrective action proposals, makes recommendations, and provides ongoing monitoring of compliance agreements. Reviews plans for proposed industrial facility construction and conducts post construction inspections. Obtains, or oversees the obtainment, of evidentiary samples which may be used for legal prosecution. Investigates process problems at the Region?s wastewater treatment plants. Performs investigation of environmental spills reported by industry, the MOE, or the public. Develops and maintains all Industrial Monitoring Program records. Calculates surcharges in excess of $1.5M per year and rebates of approximately $250,000 per year. Work requires driving, riding, or walking to industrial sites and standing, or bending w.... |
