Iqaluit, Nunavut
Reporting to the Nurse Manager, Ambulatory Care, Clerk Interpreter provides Inuktitut
and English translation between patients, medical and nursing staff, laboratory and
radiology technicians, pharmacy staff, physiotherapists, other staff of the hospital,
relatives and other visitors. Provides general assistance in clinical and patient areas and
performs clerical and administrative duties as required.
Ideal candidate will have Grade 10, experience in an office setting is an asset, certification
in First Aide, basic CPR is desirable. Medical terminology courses (Module 1-5) is an asset.
Incumbent must possess a positive attitude and be able to work effectively as a team
member, must have strong communication skills both in verbal and written and be fully
bilingual in both English and Inuktitut. Must have knowledge of syllabics and typing skills are
necessary. Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit
Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.
